For one thing, I will be willing to confess my sin and have Jesus as a real Savior for a real sinner. This love that is required of me--I certainly do not have enough of it. It will never do to have earned anything from God.

So on my lips often is: "Have mercy on me a sinner." This is the only kind of people God can have mercy on. This shall be my plea in Judgment.

And we know what Jesus says to such people. He went away justified.

This is what Elert is saying. You are a sinner. Your works can hold NOTHING over God. He wants to be reconciled to you and offers you his mercy. Listen to him! One day it will be too late.

This listening and repenting continues as long as we live. The final judgement will only be the last time and isn't any different really than a life of repentance and faith, except for those who have refused to live such a life.

This whole thing helps me with the "why are we still here and what does it mean that we still have to appear before God's exposing judgement seat?" Our hope can only be in God's mercy for sinners, who are real sinners.Brigittehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10259491144770243688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164910523346972642.post-78864240700938295162011-02-20T08:44:24.139-07:002011-02-20T08:44:24.139-07:00Yes, there will a judgement. But I find it comfort...Yes, there will a judgement. But I find it comforting to know that the one who died for me will be the One who judges me.

I have also heard that for the Christian, our judgement came at our Baptism. Romans 6 says that our sinful self was put to death with Christ (there it is) guilty as charged and put to death. But then we are raised with Christ in Baptism, as well.

In any event. I will have nothing good to say about my performance, but will point to Christ and say that it is only because of my Savior and Redeemer that I have any right to be here (heaven) at all.

Good stuff, Gitte!

Thanks for sharing.Steve Martinhttp://theoldadam.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
