Pause before the Day / Poem, sort of

Pause Before the Day...

Summer is coming!

The rains were sufficient and green overwhelms the world,
and my senses.

Life bursts from all seams.
Irrepressibly, it forges onto new ground.
Uninhibited, it displays its grandeur and vigor
to all eyes, unfolding.

Birds flit in between, playing, bathing,
hopping, singing, gathering,
alive,
oblivious to winter that was,
unconcerned,
as the lilies in the field
--about Tomorrow.

If we could just pause it here,
freeze frame, stop,
and stay.

We can, for a bit,
just look.
But we, too, are straining forward,
like the vine racing up the lattice.
